Vintage Advertisements- Good Manners

Where have all the good manners gone? Sometimes I feel we have lost that as a society. I love when people say "thank you" and "your welcome." I love when people hold the door open for me so I in turn do the same. I am tired of women wearing too short shorts and showing off their cleavage and looking cheap. I love watching "19 Kids and Counting" and seeing the kids all very respectful and willing to help out and learn.
Does this make me old at the ripe old age of 32? What do you think? -Sarah

I agree completely. Good manners are so important, but seem to be falling more and more by the wayside. We spend a lot of time at our house teaching our girls good manners and how to treat others.

No Sarah it doesn't make you old. It just shows that you were raised to have good manners and you are like I am...we appreciate others that have good manners and I think sometimes it is hard to realize others were not raised that way. When younger I couldn't understand why my Mother would correct me if I didn't show respect to my elders...but now that I am older I understand that. It is really a shame our world has evolved to where parents fear their children because they are threatened of calls to DCF to report them. I got my butt spanked when it was needed. There is a difference in cruelty and in making corrections as my parents did. I long for the return of the good old days once again where parents were in charge.
Nuff said on that subject. I wanted to let you know I have just found your blog and I am so loving it. Thank you for sharing on the wonderful things that you do. Keep up the good work.

Hi Sarah,

I just stumbled across your blog as I was Google-fishing. I do agree with your post and find it such a tragedy that so much has been lost in regards to etiquette and reverence for ladies. Dressing in a feminine and modest way does help to bring out the chivalry in a man, however, and I always try to make a man feel appreciated when he shows it. I'm hoping with the really feminine dresses that are in nowadays that the younger generations will realize that and run with it.

I look forward to exploring your delightful blog.

God bless,

Lady Kara
