Antique Photograph- You Can Call Me Al

I went to an estate sale this past Friday and picked up a few antique photographs, a couple of Mother's Day cards (I will show those soon) and and 1920's game. Although it was really crowded and the wait to get in was 30 min. I have to say the sale was a success! Here is one of the photos I purchased. On the back there was a name written as (I think) Al Carsau. So yes, you can call this handsome gentleman, Al!

Vintage Photographs- The Christmas Play

My bf loves old photographs as much as I do. He picked these up at an estate sale along with a bunch of others that were of the area where we live- only taken about 70 years ago. Pretty cool! These are from the collection and so cute! They are marked Christmas Play, 1940. I love the costumes!

Vintage Photograph- Portrait Week

This weekend I went through some bins I had on a high shelf that I don't get to very often. I found some great old portraits that I had collected years ago. This week I will show you some of my favorites! Brother and sister perhaps? Boy I bet he turned out to be one handsome man! -Sarah

Snapshots

Every holiday my father will get out his latest camera and take pictures of everything that goes on. And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. He often ends up with literally 468 photos of the event. Now I don't mind this and its fun to look back at them a few years from now. However, ever since he went digital with his camera, the photos end up on his computer and very few get printed. I sometimes wonder when he passes who will get those bazillion photos on the computer. What do we do with them?

I bought this old photograph album full of old family (not mine) photos a few years back thinking that its fun to see what people wore, how they looked, and what life looked like. Will people do that 100 years from now with digital images? Or will they get lost and forever erased? I'm not sure. Anyway, here are some of my favorites from the album.  -Sarah

Pssttt... have you heard???

As some of you might have noticed I haven't been adding new sites to my sidebar. I have had some people contact me and I appologize for not responding. I have been hard at work on a new site, my own web domain.. >insert loud, evil, crackly laugh here.. Bhawhaha!< :) anyways... it is almost up and running and will have multiple pages including The Vintage Moth. This blog location will continue to exist as it hold hundreds of great images for all of us. The new site will have all the old images and well as new posts going forward(once it's live, until then I'll be here). It has been ready for a while now but I have had some domain transfer issues. (the technicalities are frustrating to say the least..) You will be able to subscribe to the new blog feed etc.. if you are interested in advertising your crafty biz or site before we go online, (then you'd be at the top of totem pole so to speak) just drop me an email here. There is also an entire page of special links that have caught my eye and that I find are helpful for life and craft.
So that is where some of my time has been spent.. building a new site! Geesshh! It's hard work, even with a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Host.

Sorry, this pic above made me think of Sherlock Holmes in his parlor.

Now, I can give her the album back and she'll let me take another.. and another.. and another.. you cannot begin to imagine the amount of antique images, postcards, letters, and ephemera that she has! Wooohoooo!!
